Marcus - The Berkeley Hotel

Master Chef fans do not miss this! I am about to show you guys a truly luxury fine dining experience, with super luxurious fine dining cuisines designed by my master chef hero- Marcus Wareing. Located inside the Berkeley Hotel in Knightsbridge, this Two-starred Michelin restaurant is the one to look out for. He surely knows his stuff- creative ideas, excellent presentation and sensational taste to every single dish on the menu.
Complimentary canapé: Steamed cake with caviar and prawn crackers
Scallops, celery, lemon, miso
As you would probably know by now, I am a massive seafood fan. This starter I ordered certainly ticks all boxes on my list. The scallops were fresh and packed with natural juices. Combining with the celery and lemon only made the freshness stand out even more than it already has. The salmon roe on top gives a little hint of salty flavour.
Foie gras, blood orange, rosemary
Served with freshly baked brioche

Pan fried and served hot, this foie gras dish is very rich, perfect for those who love strong flavours. The brioche on the side is freshly baked and buttered and perfectly crunchy. If you think eating the foie gras alone might be too strong for your liking, try combing everything on the plate into one bite- the blood orange has a slight bitter-sweetness that dilutes the strong fatty taste of the foie gras.

Turbot, Dorset snails, shallot, gnocchi
Salmon, langoustine, buttermilk, lime
Possibly the freshest piece of salmon and langoustine I have ever tasted! The fish had almost no seasoning because it simply does not it need any. The salmon was so fresh and the langoustine, OMG, was see-through once you bite into it. I was MAKING LOVE with this dish- Could not have loved it more.

Galloway beef, short rib, squash, peppercorn
This dish is also available on the tasting menu and there is £8 extra charge if you opt for the a la carte. Why? Because this little piece of beef is so perfectly cooked. On the right hand side is a  baked cheese pastry, and oh my, the flavours combines so well with the beef it is absolutely faultless.

Anjou pigeon, celeriac, bean, blackberry

Pigeon leg was served on the side

(On the side) Pomme purée, Lincolnshire Poacher
Creamy Mash potato
Lemon, meringue, iced tea
Toffee, peanut, milk chocolate nougat
Complimentary Dark chocolate cake for my birthday
Le Petite Four- Vanilla and Banana chocolates (Complimentary)

Complimentary home made chocolates to take away :)

Overall Rating:
I think I have just found a new favourite- Michel Roux (Read his review here) has a new rival in my combat list! The food was faultless. The atmosphere was nice and quiet. This restaurant is PERFECT for any special occasion- birthdays, anniversaries, proposals, any time you want to treat your love ones to something special!

Service:
Staff were very professional and most speak fluent French and English. They also know the menu very well.

On the down side, from my previous experiences, fine dining usually goes by a fairly slow pace, giving guests enough time to enjoy their drink and rest between every course, as it can get quite heavy. However, we felt slightly pressurised from the staff in the sense that food was served at a very high speed with almost no break in between.

Food:
It is seriously difficult for me to fault the food I had in Marcus. Truly amazing and fresh. Minimal seasoning, but big flavours. No wonder he is a "Master Chef".
Must say the presentation was 10/ 10 beautiful.

Hygiene:

Value:
Guests can choose between:
The tasting menu (£120 per head or £195 with wine)
A la carte menu (3 courses £85 or 4 courses £105)
**Prices above excludes a discretionary 12.5% service charge**

We opted for the a la carte menu and portions turned out to be very generous, and we were able to try more than half of what was the menu. As a bonus, you actually receive a lot of complimentary dishes with your meal.

NB: Review above is a mere personal opinion.
