The Greenhouse

Dear Greenhouse,

You sure are one of the perfect places to make an occasion extra special. From food to service the experience felt like I was Royalty! I also love your Asian infusion ideas that penetrated through the taste of your lovely food.

Overall Rating:
The restaurant is situated in a quiet corner in Mayfair, Green Park. The entrance is filled with lovely gardening and statue which fits the name very well. Food was faultless, staff were no doubt professional and friendly. A two-starred Michelin well earned.

Staff:
Staff spoke fluent French and English. Very professional manner and gave us good suggestions on what to order.

Food:
High quality of fresh ingredients were used. I love how the head chef likes to add green tea to his food, giving a hint of Asian element. My favourites were definitely the fish and dessert- the fish was nothing like what I've had before; desserts were light yet packed with exciting texture and flavours. and if you decide to visit this place- MAKE SURE YOU TAKE THE BANANA CAKE TAKE OUT BOX- DELISH!

Value:
This place is great for a special occasion. The quality of the food and the number of "complimentary" plates made the bill reasonable.

Entrees
(Complementary) Chef's experimental dish:
Crab meat in yogurt and spinach puree

Orkney scallop Verbena/ Green zebra tomato/ Samphire
You know scallops have always been my weakness..... this dish is served cold with layers of fresh, raw scallops topped with a layer of acidic jelly. Perfect starter to have on a warm day!
Langoustine (£20 suppl.) Avocado/ Lemongrass/ Yuzu/ Sake
Look at the size of the langoustine!!! Super juicy and so fresh that minimal seasoning is needed!!
Foie gras Basmatic rice/ Smoked eel/ Cider vinegar
Limousin veal Provola/ Peas/ Tamarind
Wild turbot Golden matcha tea/ Cauliflower/ Lemon/ Chives
EDITOR's FAVOURITE: This is possibly the BEST fish dish I have ever tasted! The texture of the fish is very unique- it tastes like cake more than fish! Eat by combining all ingredients and sauce together will give your tastebuds a sensational surprise.

Green Chartreuse Soufflé/ Chestnut honey
Short bread to accompany the souffle

Lemon Meringue Matcha tea/ Apple/ Yuzu
EDITOR's FAVOURITE: with a hint of Asian inspired element, this green tea dessert was truly a pleasure. The balance of the lightness of greentea ice cream, the sweetness of the lemon meringue, and the slight sourness of the yuzu sauce gave this dessert a truly beautiful scent and taste.

Red face after a glass of champagne!!

NB: Review above is a mere personal opinion.

Marcus - The Berkeley Hotel

Master Chef fans do not miss this! I am about to show you guys a truly luxury fine dining experience, with super luxurious fine dining cuisines designed by my master chef hero- Marcus Wareing. Located inside the Berkeley Hotel in Knightsbridge, this Two-starred Michelin restaurant is the one to look out for. He surely knows his stuff- creative ideas, excellent presentation and sensational taste to every single dish on the menu.
Complimentary canapĂ©: Steamed cake with caviar and prawn crackers
Scallops, celery, lemon, miso
As you would probably know by now, I am a massive seafood fan. This starter I ordered certainly ticks all boxes on my list. The scallops were fresh and packed with natural juices. Combining with the celery and lemon only made the freshness stand out even more than it already has. The salmon roe on top gives a little hint of salty flavour.

The WORST restaurant of the year?!- Bibendum, South Kensington

Waited for over a year to try this place, with such high expectations- WHAT A DISAPPOINTMENT. Do not be fooled by its price tag. I did not know there is such thing as "rubbish food you can get from a Michelin standard restaurant" until I came to this place.

(Before I start reviewing, Bibendum also has an oyster bar downstairs which received fairly good reviews)

Risotto Bianco with Truffle RRP £12
So Bibendum claimed that it is "truffle season" and offered this speciality on their menu. For £12, I was served a plate of risotto cooked in chicken stock and a sprinkle of cheese. And here comes the best bit- CAN YOU SEE THE TRUFFLE?!

Have you, like me, been on a hunt to find a decent steak! Do you find places like Angus Steak House and TGI Fridays charge high prices yet still do not satisfy your taste bud? Look no further.
We came to try this place as a special offer was on with ALL STEAK 50% OFF.

Wild Honey- Does the best ice cream!

Have been attracted to the menu for awhile and wanted to try this place out. Finally got the chance to, and must say- I have mixed feelings. I thoroughly enjoyed the ambience of the restaurant and can truly say, if you are looking for a place to chill with your colleagues or girl friends for a night out with some wine and nice food for the evening, look no further.
Here we go....

Sketch- The Lecture room fine dining experience

If you have not yet noticed, I previously did a review on Sketch, on their exceptional afternoon Tea (read here). I had such a good time that I return to try their dinner menu. Sketch certainly deserves its 2* Michelin award for its creativity and variety. Dinner alone gives you 2 choices- you can choose to dine in The Gallery- which is more of a bistro style type cuisine at a lower price.

I went to the Lecture Room- The two star fine dining restaurant. Can I please say, soon as I reached the staircase I was amazed by the beautiful settings.
