The WORST restaurant of the year?!- Bibendum, South Kensington

Waited for over a year to try this place, with such high expectations- WHAT A DISAPPOINTMENT. Do not be fooled by its price tag. I did not know there is such thing as "rubbish food you can get from a Michelin standard restaurant" until I came to this place.

(Before I start reviewing, Bibendum also has an oyster bar downstairs which received fairly good reviews)

Risotto Bianco with Truffle RRP £12
So Bibendum claimed that it is "truffle season" and offered this speciality on their menu. For £12, I was served a plate of risotto cooked in chicken stock and a sprinkle of cheese. And here comes the best bit- CAN YOU SEE THE TRUFFLE?!

Lobster and saffron tart RRP£23.50
This, so-called the "Bibendum classic", is simply ridiculous. Put aside the taste for a second. Look at the presentation of this dish- effortless....ly BAD! A handful of dry salad (not even with sauce), a deep fried lobster claw (cannot tell if it is fresh because it was fried) and what taste like a frozen crab meat quiche. Seriously..... £23.50 for this Sh*t?!

Escargots de Bourgogne 6 RRP£12.00
This is completely flavour-less. I am a big fan of escargots. The one thing that I look forward to all the time is the bursting juices of garlic and white wine. But never in my life have I had escargots so bland. The lack of garlic made the snails very slimy...it was not pretty.

Côte de boeuf grillé, pommes paille and bearnaise (For two) RRP£55.00
By the time the main course came I have already lost excitement and expectation for this place. The steak was so-so, nothing special and I definitely have had better. The sauce was a warmed up Bearnaise sauce that you can get from any local supermarket. The chef added some minty herb which made the taste very strange. The chips/ crisps things that you see on the side were odd- they tasted like potato chips but not...... presentation again is horrible and not appetising.

Chocolate and ginger mille feuille RRP £9.25

Overall Rating:
(Possibly the worst restaurant I have been to. This restaurant does NOT deserve its Michelin title: From service to food to price- everything was just bad. I am definitely not coming back)

Staff:
(We waited 20 minutes after being sat down at our table. It was not until I gave one of the managers an angry stare that they realised we needed to be served. Staff were not particularly friendly, did not explain the menu to us, and were not attentive at all)

Food:
(One word- CRAP. As a Michelin standard restaurant, this place is most definitely under performing. Presentation was effortless and not appetising; food was bland; worst of all, the price tag did not match with the quality of the food, at all)

Hygiene:
(My napkin had a stain on it. The toilets were very dirty. Totally did not expect this from a Michelin standard restaurant)

Value:
(Never felt so ripped off. Give me a 50% discount I still will not choose to dine here again. In my opinion, the food here is not even bistro standard)

NB: Review above is a mere personal opinion.
