Restaurant of the year- Kitchen W8

Before I even write anything- This place has become one of my favourite restaurants of the year!
Quiet dining area, classy decorations, beautiful presentation and delicious flavours, along with professional and friendly customer service.. What's more? Oh.... GOOD VALUE?
What more can you ask for ??!!

Orkney Scallop with Charred Celeriac, Truffle and Roast Chicken Skin RRP £15.95
EDITOR's FAVOURITE: This is cooked to PERFECTION. The roast chicken skin was so thoroughly cooked that you will not be able to taste any fat. Instead, what is left is the aroma that flies out as you chew the scallops. Mix it all and take a big bite with everything together- that's the only way you will understand why the chef has put these specific ingredients in- BECAUSE THEY ARE ALL IN ONE LOVING RELATIONSHIP.

Thinly Sliced Smoked Eel with Grilled Cornish Mackerel, Golden Beetroot and Sweet Mustard RRP£11.50
Refreshing, colourful and light. The eel was cooked stunningly. I could not taste the slimy-ness that you would normally get in eel. The saltiness of the Mackerel did not overwhelm the other flavours. Very delightful dish.
Tartare of Fallow Deer with Crapaudine Beetroot, Walnuts, Onion and Rye RRP £12.25
This is so pretty!! A sweet-sour flavoured tatare wrapped in a thinly slice of beetroot. This reminds me of Japanese autumn fall leaves :)

Roast Yorkshire Grouse with Black Cabbage, Bacon, Smoked Beetroot and Black Figs RRP£.29.95
EDITOR's FAVOURITE: The smell of this dish already made my mouth water, before I even had my first bite. My favourite is the spring roll look-a-like bacon pastry- It is some serious business when you dip it with the beetroot sauce!
Slow Cooked Short Rib of Beef with Roast Sweetbreads, Pearl Barley and Heritage Carrots RRP£.27.50

Chocolate PavĂ© with Peanut Ice Cream, Caramelised Popcorn and Lime RRP£8.50

Whipped Vanilla Rice Pudding with Blackberry Ripple Ice Cream and Discovery Apple (Served cold) RRP£7.75

Dining Tip:

1) Order wisely
It is actually cheaper to opt for the A la carte menu rather than the Tasting Menu (RRP£60 per head, excluding 12.5% service charge).
Choose 2-3 starters, 2 mains and 2 dessert, with a glass of wine. You will pay only £10 extra- for bigger portions and wider variety, without the restriction of everyone having to choose the Tasting menu!

2) What to have?
Tasting Menu is often the best recommended by the head chef of the restaurant, so use this as a guide.

Overall Rating:
(This is possibly going to be my favourite restaurant in 2014)

Staff:
(Multi-lingual, friendly and attentive staff that knows everything about the menu. Customers in Kitchen W8 are looked after very well and you are guaranteed to leave with satisfaction)

Food:
(Need I say anymore? From presentation to taste- Absolutely sensational)

Hygiene:
(I believe the building was refurbished not long ago, either that or everything was looked after so well its state is still like new)

Value:
(Portions are fairly large for a Michelin. However, quality has been neglected either- definitely a Good eat for a good price!)

If you are on a budget but still wants to taste great food, Kitchen W8 has a number of on-going special offers- from Lunch to dinner set-menu.
NB: Review above is a mere personal opinion.
