Jubo fried chicken- Because K-drama is that influential

"You are~~ my destiny...!!" To all #MY LOVE FROM THE STARS# fans out there.. We all know the impact that this drama has brought to the WORLD- one of them being :
KOREAN FRIED CHICKEN (양념치킨)

The Kitchen counter
And the trend has now arrived in London! Located in a hidden pub in Shordeitch, Central London, Jubo serves Korean street food along with a wide selection of Soju (Korean rice wine) cocktails. Enjoy!
Happy hour is from 4:00pm - 7:00pm! All cocktails are buy one get one free (Must be the same drink)
My Sassy Girl £8.50
Soju, lychee purée, cranberry juice, syrup
Chicken dinner platter RRP £378 wings, 8 strips, 3 sidesChoice of sides include kimchi, radish, kimchi slaw, dumplings, cripsy lotus roots, chips/ rice
(To share between 2-4 people)

In this platter there are two types of fried chicken, one with sauce, the other without. you can choose three sides from the menu. We had the crispy lotus roots, kimchi and dumplings. The lotus roots tastes like potato chips so I guess it is a slightly healthier options. Kimchi was the pre-packed ones you can get from supermarket, hence not freshly made. The dumplings were a little greasy.

I think the platter will go perfect with a pint of beer (as many Koreans do). It is perfect finger food for those who want to have a good time in a pub!

Beef Kalbi (Korean style marinated Short ribs) RRP £10
Served with boiled rice
Beef was tender and nicely marinated. Portion size was fairly generous but what really impressed me was the coleslaw that came with the dish! The balance between the sauce and the veg was perfect!

Pork Pluma RRP £15
grilled premium pork with Korean spice rub (served pink)

This pork was mediocre compared to the beef. The pork was more on the salty side and in my opinion, a little dry. The seaweed on the side were very refreshing though. Try eating the two together to get rid of the saltiness.
Japchae RRP £6
(served cold) Korean glass noodles with mixed vegatables and soy sauce, sesame oil
I don't recommend this at all. I liked the idea of serving this dish cold. However, the glass noodles were not boiled properly and tasted really hard and rough. There were far too much sauce in the pot too. Thumbs down!
