Angler- Loving the freshness

Fish lover? You are in the right place.
Went to this Michelin star restaurant for a work team lunch and must say I was very impressed. Located within Southplace hotel, Moorgate, the restaurant is on the seventh floor of the building. Very nicely decorated, there is an opened window where guests can see through the kitchen, giving you peace of mind to the food that you are to enjoy.

The kitchen

Only minor criticism would be the building was not tall enough and therefore the view outside is considered dull - nothing but buildings under construction.

The food
If you love fish, you will love this place. Menu is seasonal depending on what fresh fish they can get from the Market. But don't be put off if you are no seafood fan. They also have special which wowed me.

Salad of squid and mango, soy & ginger dressing

Langoustine and lobster cocktail

baby gem lettuce, brown shrimps

Scared Orkney scallop

red wine braised beef, butternut squash, sage brown butter

EDITOR's FAVOURITE!!- The freshness of the butternut squash blends so well with every single bite of the scallops! The seasoning was spot on so it did not overtake the fresh taste of the scallops. Highly recommended!

Note: This restaurants also offers fresh oysters for starters!

Not a Fish lover? Not to worry. A meat dish at the Angler will satisfy your tastebuds just as much. This large portion duck dish is definitely worth the money. The meat is cooked to perfection and blends very well with the sauce and sides!

Overall, a highly recommended restaurant for both fish and meat lovers- espeicially if you are particular about your food being fresh.
