If you have not yet noticed, I previously did a review on Sketch, on their exceptional afternoon Tea (read here). I had such a good time that I return to try their dinner menu. Sketch certainly deserves its 2* Michelin award for its creativity and variety. Dinner alone gives you 2 choices- you can choose to dine in The Gallery- which is more of a bistro style type cuisine at a lower price.
I went to the Lecture Room- The two star fine dining restaurant. Can I please say, soon as I reached the staircase I was amazed by the beautiful settings.
Now sit back and relax, and let me take you on the experience of royalty! Be prepared for heart beating
excitement!
The Interior
Such gorgeous design! From the steps to your table I felt like I was in a different world!
Can you believe what you just saw was actually the toilets?? Simply extravagant and full of bling bling. Did you know, all the gems are by SWARVOSKI ? So pretty!!!
Here is the dining area: Very high class design. Makes me think of the Queen's tea room! Chairs were super comfy. The colour was warm and relaxing.
The food
Veal
Haunch of Veal Rubbed with Vadouvan, Roasted with Oregano /
Swish Chard and Spinach / Veal Jus / Aubergine Cannelloni
Lettuce Filled with Sweetbreads / “Zezette” Bouillon
Pierre Gagnaire’s Grand Dessert
A Combination of Six Desserts
If you have a sweet tooth, you will love this part. I have never seen such a generous selection of desserts in the tasting menu.
For me it was a little overwhelming as I was already very stuffed from the main courses. However, I can tell you that this dessert platter has something for everybody. Soft sponges to crunchy rice, marshmallows, fresh fruits, sorbet. you name it! very impressed with the presentation as well!
....and one last recommendation:
Overall Rating: (Atmosphere was great, lighting was good so you won't fall asleep in the middle of your 3 hour dining experience, chairs were very comfortable)
Staff: (Super friendly and helpful staff, all made really good effort to communicate with customers)
Food:
Hygiene:
Value: (£94 (+12.5% service charge) for a six course menu)

The food
Sea Bream
Black Olive Jelly / Cured Sea Bream / Cuttlefish /
Paris Mushrooms “à la Grecque” / Shaved Purple Artichoke
The black olive jelly really brought out the flavour of the slice of raw fish and the mushrooms. A very refreshing starter that preps you for all the main courses that are full of flavours.
Red Prawns
Pan-fried Organic Red Prawns / Olive Oil Mousseline /
Pomegranate with Mostarda di Cremona / Fresh Heart of Palm
EDITOR's FAVOURITE! This is seriously the BEST prawn I have ever had in my life. Cooked to perfection. It is just about cooked and once you bite it all its natural juices leeks out of the prawn. Sooooo delightful and delicious!
Foie Gras
Foie Gras Ravioli / Red Onions and Baby Turnips Braised with Curry
Very clever as Foie Gras and curry are both very strong flavours yet instead of clashing the two light curry "soup" sauce really complimented the ravioli!
Pollock (Fish)
Roasted Pollock with Chilli Butter / Sweet and Sour
Cherry Tomatoes, Escargot and Golden Raisins /
Cucumber and Melon with Mint
Roasted Pollock with Chilli Butter / Sweet and Sour
Cherry Tomatoes, Escargot and Golden Raisins /
Cucumber and Melon with Mint
The cucumber and Melon was very refreshing, and preps you well for the fish, which is also cooked beautifully. It was tender, juicy yet full of flavour. Great combination.
Veal
Haunch of Veal Rubbed with Vadouvan, Roasted with Oregano /
Swish Chard and Spinach / Veal Jus / Aubergine Cannelloni
Lettuce Filled with Sweetbreads / “Zezette” Bouillon
:( THUMBS DOWN- This is my least favourite dish out of the whole menu. The meat was cooked in five spices and has a Chinese kick into it. To me, it was a little to easily predictable for a 2* Michelin restaurant.

If you ever go to sketch for dinner or see this drink on the menu anywhere you go, YOU MUST try it! Freshly made non-fizz grape juice, in a wine bottle! I have never tasted anything like it! Flavours are so exciting and yummy!!
